How does nsc’s PixelatedLightEngine™ enable the displays of the future?

The displays of the future for AR / VR headsets have strict requirements on pixel pitch, brightness and power efficiency due to the near-eye proximity and portable nature of head mounted displays. These constraints can be challenging for existing display solutions such as OLED and LCD.

As a result, MicroLED is the only feasible future display solution.

Global MicroLED display shipments are expected to grow to 16.7 million units by 2027 (Compound Semiconductor, 2020). However, as a newer technology, the current MicroLED / Microdisplay solutions are costly and difficult to scale.

nsc’s proprietary PixelatedLightEngine™ enables MicroLED displays at a cost that is suited for consumer electronics.

Our single chip-based solution avoids the costs and difficulties associated with chip scale bonding or other advanced packaging solutions while providing high brightness and high efficiency display systems. Our wafer scale integration process is the key to enabling the displays of the future.
